It's Ashleigh who I am stealing this from- but my Joys today were:
Staying in my Jammies until 11:00 a.m.
Julia borrowed a Hip Hop DVD from the Library; it was pink, so she wanted it. Well, she picked up some moves- because today she said, "Swide, bop!" (Slide, Hop!) and had me laughing.
Driving in the snow and almost getting STUCK!
Shoveling that gorgeous snow with Jordan..
Eating Popcorn and sipping hot cocoa while enjoying Mary Poppins with my kids!
Blogging. Need I say more?
Doing one simple load of laundry.
Talking on the phone with friends.
Listening to my kids play together-all 3- Julia is the princess, Jordan a horse, and Bobby a dragon- and they are protecting the princess.
Fixing Mac n' cheese for the kiddies for dinner since Ryan is at the USU game tonight.
and building a snowman with Jordan while the babies were napping- it was finally the right kind of snow!
I thought I would relate some fun things that have been said at my home lately... my kids make me smile!
Sunday night Ryan was talking about where "roast" comes from- and it became a guessing game. So Ryan asked, "Where does Pork come from?" Bobby guessed, "Um, I think a porcupine?" Cute kid.
Julia likes my Caffeine-free Diet Coke; which is a bad thing- I know. But I gave her a tiny bit in her Pink cup Monday, and she drank it and pushed her cup toward me and said, "More Mom. I serious." And I couldn't help but laugh and Jordan giggled, too!
We've been singing at our house- I sing to my boys before bed- and we have been learning some Christmas songs. So when we sing Jingle Bells, Jordan always sings "So much fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh" and it makes me smile. I don't feel like I need to correct him at all.
10- Making Sugar Cookies at Music Class! 9- Having some Scentsy fun: four orders in one week! 8- It finally SNOWS! I spend a lazy Saturday in my new jammies- Thanks, Kris! 7- Looking at the Bunnies at IFA Store- we went to get straw for Brinkley's Kennel and had some popcorn and Hot cocoa, too! That store rocks!! 6- I get lasered to help my sunspots- I can already see a difference! 5- Singing Sunday- I sang in the Stake Choir and a women's choir- I really love to sing! 4- Open Garage: at my house! We have an open garage with canned donations to the food bank and treats with neighbors instead of "Neighbor Gifts" and I love it! 3- Julia is deathly afraid of Santa- but says to herself like a mantra: "Santa. Baby." Translation: Don't be scared of Santa- he's bringing me a baby doll for Christmas." 2- Movie night with my crazy kids and hubby: we watched Journey to the Center of the Earth- the t-rex is a new favorite. 1- Going to the Pingree School to deliver toys! Christmas came early!! Santa was awesome and let each child open a gift to the classroom- I was just happy to watch it all unfold! Good times!
This is hilarious- sent to me by my hubby. At least he knows where our doghouse is located. He also knows to never buy me any heart-shaped jewelry! Check it out here.
I have been thinking... I have a lot of Holiday Favorites that I want to put out there- and invite you to leave me a list of YOUR favorites! You know, the holiday "friends" that show up every year and make Christmas special. So, here goes:
My Favorite Christmas Songs: "What shall we give to the babe in the manger?" by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. If you haven't heard it- come over! It has such beautiful lyrics and brings tears to my eyes- I love it. My Second pick would have to be "Breath of Heaven" by Amy Grant because I think of Mary and her mission as the Mother of the Savior of the world.
My Favorite Christmas Movie(s): "Christmas Vacation", "A Christmas Story," and "White Christmas." This illustrates my sometimes twisted sense of humor- I love to watch Christmas Vacation- Clark reminds me of my dad on the clumsy scenes- LOL the hanging of the lights on the house, and the attic part- those I can't help but laugh. A Christmas Story reminds me of fun days growing up and has the best one-liners; so funny. White Christmas is a favorite because I love all the actors, costumes, and the love story. Last, but not least- "The Grinch who stole Christmas"- animated version- I still enjoy that one!
My Favorite Christmas Tree Decorations: I have a Noah's Noel tree skirt, and my Christmas tree is covered with animal ornaments that my kids love! I have an ark parked at the top, and all those special ornaments from years gone by.
My Favorite Christmas Decoration: My Willow Tree Nativity- it is so beautiful.
My Favorite Christmas Smells: Scentsy's Clove and Cinnamon, Spruceberry, and Snowberry!
My Favorite Christmas Decoration for my kids: Our Precious Moments Nativity from Avon just melts my heart- this year Julia is especially excited about Mary and the Baby Jesus- Mary can hold him in her arms! Bobby loves the Shepherd and sheep, and Jordan loves Joseph. They have so much fun PLAYING with it because it is plastic and made just for kids!
My Favorite Children's Christmas Books/stories: "Who is coming to our House?"and "Gingerbread Baby" and "Snowmen at Night" and "Polar Express."
Favorite Tradition: Opening new Christmas Jammies on Christmas Eve and reading Luke 2
Favorite Holiday Foods: Fudge, Egg Nog, and any and all Chocolate. Yum.
Favorite Memories of Christmas from days gone by: Stringing Popcorn and Cranberries. delivering neighbor treats, being with my brothers and sisters, Sledding for hours, playing with new toys, my dad reading Luke 2. And now: being Santa's helper and watching my kids' faces- staying in pajamas and being lazy all day together.
Why I love Christmas: because of Christ. He is my exemplar- and the account in Luke is my favorite to read in the scriptures. It truly is remarkable- the record of His birth and every cirumstance around it; I am humbled by that sweet story. I also enjoy thinking of Joseph Smith on his Birthday: December 23- I felt a really special spirit at his birthplace in Sharon, Vermont.
is not my friend anymore. I won't be going to tanning beds ever again (not like I've been in the past ten years!) and I am considering getting my van windows tinted to block every single ray... because this morning I had my sunspots on my face LASERED. I went to see my Dermatologist because I am cautious- I had these sunspots start to show on my face a year ago... well this morning I went in and I have never had any laser work done- so it was surprising! I would compare it to being hit with a rubber band, accompanied by a slight smell of burning flesh.. thus I have some pronounced brown spots now on my face for the next two weeks until they hopefully fade to nothing. In the meantime, do not be afraid. It is still me: Amanda.
10- Going to BYU with Renee and Tricia to present our class about parenting a child with disabilities- I am always amazed at what I learn and hear from them each time. 9- Getting my hair colored and cut- Thanks, Amy! 8- Our Ward party comes and goes- it was great and I realize that there are awesome people all around me. 7- Going to Oh, Sweet Sadie and loving it- SO much fun- a feast for the eyes. 6- Selling Holiday Scentsy at Leslie's- Thank you Leslie! 5- Running many errands with three cute kids- I sometimes look in the rear-view mirror and feel overwhelmed with what I see- and they're MINE! 4- We go as a family to Madagascar 2 and to Hollywood Connection and played- it was a LOT of fun- Thanks, Nan- for inviting us! 3- Shopping and going out to eat with Jamie and Kris on our Park City Girls' Overnighter! 2- Painting my toenails and exchanging gifts by a cozy fire at our Girls' Overnighter. 1- Eating Peanut Butter Fudge, White chocolate chip craisin cookies, and watching movies and discussing good reads with two of my best friends- Jamie and Kris in Park City at our Girl's overnighter- fantastic girls! The HUGE #1 on my list!!
I was loading my fifth load of laundry yesterday, when I heard a thud in the washer. I found a penny, and figured it had made the noise. Upon loading the clothing to the dryer I found my cell phone- washed and smelling so lovely, but dead. I am trying to revive it.. but call me at home if you are trying to get a hold of me... I did want to get Julia's messy fingerprints off of it, but WASHING my cell phone was not in the plan.
